This year has seen a 47% increase in entries for the Lilizela Tourism Awards compared with 2016.

“Last year we had 1 122 entries countrywide; this year we have 1 649,” says Neil Nagooroo, SA Tourism GM: Exhibitions and Strategic Events, talking on SA Tourism’s monthly webinar for the trade.

Launched in 2013, the SA Tourism-run annual awards aim to celebrate excellence in the tourism industry. 

Joining the discussion was Ntokozo Luvuno, one of this year’s judges, who is upbeat about the broadening of the entry categories and the positive impact involvement in the awards has on SMEs.

The provincial stages of the awards are complete and the national awards will be announced at an event on October 29 at the Sandton Convention Centre.
