Nesbitt Castle, one of Bulawayo’s four-star hotels, has suspended operations for major building maintenance and upgrades.
According to Director, Rory Nesbitt, the facility was damaged by the storm and flooding following heavy rains in the city.
Nesbitt said they were closing the accommodation and restaurant side of the business for an extended period of time.
“Management feels that we cannot continue to keep our good name without these refurbishments,” he said, adding that, once complete, the hotel would host a grand opening “à la Castle style”.
Nesbitt could not reveal how long it will take management to complete the upgrades, citing cash shortages in the country.
The hotel is close to the Natural History Museum of Zimbabwe and the Bulawayo Railway Museum.
