Table Mountain Aerial Cableway reopened on Monday, August 10, following a two-week shutdown for scheduled annual maintenance. 

The maintenance included a haul rope change, the cleaning of the ropes and slack rope tests, switch and bearings renewal, servicing of the main gearbox, generators and back-up generators, as well as general electronic component changes and control checks.

Maintenance is completed yearly to meet the highest global cableway standards set by the Swiss Governing Body for Cableways.

The cable car will also receive a new look by Visa’s #NotATourist campaign. The design on the exterior of the cable car will feature Table Mountain’s ascending contour lines and hiking trails.
