A number of roads around the Cape Town Stadium will be closed on the weekend of December 8-9 to accommodate the 2018 HSBC 7s Rugby Tournament and the number of local and international visitors who attend the annual event.
Months of planning have prepared the City and Stadium to welcome not only the players but the fans too. The use of transport services such as the MyCiTi shuttle service is encouraged to lighten the strain on traffic, and ensure easy access to and from the stadium. The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, and Social Services, Alderman JP Smith says: ‘‘The City has put together a comprehensive transport plan to accommodate the thousands of fans… The City’s enforcement units will be out in force to maintain law and order on the roads.”
The HSBC 7s Rugby Tournament has proven to be a significant source of tourism income for the City of Cape Town.
