City Lodge Hotels Limited has announced that construction of its 147-room City Lodge Hotel Dar es Salaam has been delayed due to outstanding regulatory approvals that were affected by Tanzania’s recent general election.
“It is expected that construction will commence within the next few months and that the hotel will open towards the end of the second quarter or early in the third quarter of 2017,” the group said in a statement.

The 169-room City Lodge Hotel Two Rivers in Nairobi and the 151-room Town Lodge Windhoek are expected to open in the second quarter of 2017.
In Uganda, liaison with the prospective landlord is ongoing for development of the 150-room City Lodge Hotel Kampala. In Mozambique, final approvals are still being sought for development of the 148-room City Lodge Hotel Maputo. It was anticipated that construction would begin in the second quarter of this year and that the hotel would open during the third quarter of 2017, the group said in a statement.
