Classic Portfolio, a group of independently owned lodges and camps in Africa, has announced not only a new member, but also a recent camp opening in Zimbabwe – Fothergill in the Matusadona National Park on the edge of Lake Kariba.
Situated halfway between Hwange and Mana Pools, Matusadona National Park is the first protected area in Zimbabwe to come under the management of African Parks, and Fothergill is a designated concession in the park.
Accommodation consists of five tented suites and two two-bedroom family suites, each with a small private pool. The main area has a larger pool, two lounge and dining tents, and a bar area.
There is also an exclusive-use camp, Little Fothergill, which has three tents, a main lounge and dining area with a shared pool – suited to a family or group of friends. Little Fothergill requires a maximum of six guests, which can be increased to eight by using one of the main camp tented suites.
The camp offers a range of activities, from boat cruises and catch-and-release fishing, to game drives and big-game walks. Each experience is led by an experienced guide.
MackAir offers airstrip-to-airstrip flights between Hwange and Mana Pools to Fothergill and fastjet operates commercial flights from Victoria Falls to Hwange and Kariba.
