The Royal Livingstone Hotel by Anantara and Avani Victoria Falls Resort are supporting the local community in Zambia during the lockdown period.
General Manager of both properties, Laurie Burr, said it was important to see hotels doing the right thing and shutting down over this period of quarantine and making sure to keep team members and the local community safe, happy and optimistic.
In a video message from the two hotels, Burr spoke of the numerous schools, hospitals and old-age homes that received donations from owner of the properties, Minor Hotels, which also offers support to Zambia’s Ministries of Health and Art.
“We must think of others in the communities where we operate,” said Burr, adding that the hotels’ surrounding communities had been supported with gifts of blankets, food and medicine in addition to monetary donations.
He emphasised that the staff at the hotels were being kept safe from exposure and that efforts were being made to look after them and their families.
“We will get through these next few months safely and securely so that once again we can welcome back guests, our team members, their families and friends,” said Burr.
“Until we meet again on the beautiful banks of the Zambezi, stay well, stay safe, we wish you and your families a very safe journey over the next few months.”
