Johan Burger, a guide at Le Bonheur Crocodile Farm in Paarl, Western Cape, died in an accident in one of the farm’s crocodile ponds on January 14.
Le Bonheur has suspended its croc pond tours until Saturday, January 21. The restaurant, fishing and boat rides remain open.
The incident will be fully investigated and Le Bonheur will provide further details as and when it becomes available. Burger joined Le Bonheur at the end of 2015 as a part-time designer and executor of display areas in and around the crocodile. He also conducted tours during the December holiday season.
“Johan’s passing is a huge shock to all who have worked with him and know him. We offer our deepest sympathy and condolences to his family and friends,” Le Bonheur Crocodile said in a statement.
