Following a fire last week, The Leopard Beach Resort & Spa on Diani Beach in Kenya has reported that 120 rooms were lost, however despite this setback, the remainder of the resort will open from March 1.
The damage to accommodation included all the resort’s Standard and majority of its Superior Rooms, however management has decided to keep the rest of the resort open, as the following are unaffected:
- Chui Class Cottages, Honeymoon Suites and Sea View Villas.
- 16 Villas at The Residences.
- One sea-facing block with 19 rooms, which include 18 Superior Rooms and one Executive Suite.
- The service food outlets, pools, beach and public areas, as well as Uzuri Spa were also unaffected by the inferno and will remain open.
“Please note that the reconstruction of our accommodation will begin in earnest to restore our rooms shortly,” read a statement issued by the resort.
The resort recommends that all bookings held with them from now until July 1 be re-booked in other hotels along Diani Beach. If clients insist staying at The Leopard Beach Resort & Spa, they must be notified that during their stay they will see the damage caused by the fire and there will be ongoing construction. “We would prefer not to have any guests stay with us due to this reason and claim compensation,” read the statement.
