Thanda Island, situated within southern Tanzania’s Shungi Mbili Island Marine Reserve, has opened to visitors on a sole-use basis.
The luxury property owned by a Swedish couple Christin and Dan Olofsson, comprises a five-bedroom villa featuring beautiful glass rim-flow swimming pool and an in-door aquarium. It can accommodate up to 10 adults, with the option of additional children sharing.
Situated in southern Tanzania’s Shungi Mbili Island Reserve, the private island villa combines casual beach-house living without-door sea adventures.
Sitting on 20 acres of land, the luxury villa is surrounded by private coral reef with an exclusive-use zone extending over a half-mile.
Sailboats, stand-up paddle boards, single and double kayaks are at the disposal of guests.
Depending on season, visitors to Shungi Mbili Island can view turtles nesting and their eggs hatching.
The official opening was October 28 and hosted by the District Commissioner of Mafia Island, Shaibu Nunduma.
