Hot on the heels of the August 3 news that the UAE will allow South Africans to transit in Dubai comes the news that Emirates will lay on 18 flights a week from Dubai to South Africa.
The airline says by August 12 it will provide daily flights to Johannesburg (and double-daily to Johannesburg on four days of the week), four flights a week to Durban and three flights a week to Cape Town.
Travellers from South Africa are not required to be vaccinated, nor to take PCR tests for their transit through Dubai, but need to adhere to the visa, testing and vaccination requirements of the end destination.
Johannesburg, first frequency – starts August 6
Departs DXB at 09h55 and arrives in JNB at 16h15.
Departs JNB at 19h10, and arrives in DXB at 05h25 the following day.
These above flights are seven days a week.
Johannesburg, second frequency – starts August 11
Departs DXB at 04h05 and arrives in JNB at 10h15.
Departs JNB at 11h55 and arrives in DXB at 00h55 the following day.
These flights are on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Durban – starts August 11
Departs DXB at 04h05 and arrives in DUR (via JNB) at 13h05.
Departs DUR at 14h35 and arrives in DXB at 00h55 the following day.
These flights are on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Cape Town – starts August 12
Departs DXB at 03h55 and arrives in CPT at 11h35.
These flights are on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Departs CPT at 18h20 and arrives in DXB at 05h40 the following day.
These flights are on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
