Thalerra Tours, Shuttles and Safaris, is a travel, conferencing and events management company based in Rustenburg, North West. It is an online tour operator and destination marketing company, aimed at empowering black women in the industry.

The 100% black-owned company encourages strategic partnership for future capacity building.

Refilwe Tladi, current CEO and 100% shareholder of Thalerra Tours, founded the company.

Tladi started working for Mankwe Game trackers Sun City, as a Tour Co-ordinator in 2013. Three months later she was promoted to doing FIT bookings, dealing with local and international tour operators. “It was a huge responsibility as I also had to do month-end reports for all activities.”

Four months later Tladi received yet another promotion to work as a Groups Tour Co-ordinator, which she says was an even bigger responsibility for her to handle.

“I had a good team and learned fast, I impressed my managers and clients,” she said.

Tladi dealt with groups of more than 1 000 people from Australia, China and Brazil to name a few.

She soon founded Thalerra Tours, in pursuit of black economic empowerment of women in the travel and tourism industry, with the purpose of encouraging active economic participation of black women and men in the industry, as well as ensuring that all people gain equitable social development and economic success by providing jobs, and promoting local communities.

Thalerra Tours includes packages to the Golden Gate National Park, the Pilanesberg National Park, Kruger National Park, Madikwe Game Reserve and Sun City.

Its main expertise is the cultural and historical tours, battlefields and natural heritage routes, such as the Paul Kruger Museum, Mphebatho Cultural Museum, Voortrekker Monument, God’s Window and the Three Rondavels, as well as Mosega Battlefield, Mandela House, Hector Peterson Memorial and various village and township tours.

Services on offer extend to various tour packages, including local sites, provincial, national and cross-border. Overland and bush safari experiences with bush braais and picnics are also on offer, as well as a variety of adventure activities.

Thalerra Tours also organises accommodation for guests, conferencing and events management, as well as mentoring, motivation and coaching in the tourism industry.
