Direct flights connecting Tokyo and Nairobi are potentially on the cards after Japan’s Ambassador to Kenya, Okaniwa Ken, met with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Moses Wetang’ula, on areas of common interest between the nations.
The Ambassador, on a tour of duty in Kenya since December 2021, also spoke with Wetang’ula about a Japan-Kenya exchange programme in technical skills and expertise, pointing out that Kenya was a very valued business partner.
“Japan is an advanced market economy and there is a lot we can benchmark and collaborate on between the two countries,” said Wetang’ula, noting the role played by the Tokyo International Conference on Africa Development in creating a space for the exchange of ideas and learning opportunities for countries around the world.
