The Oceans Umhlanga development, a R3.1 billion (€180m) project north of Durban, is planned for completion by November 2018.
The project will include a shopping mall, a 200-key hotel, apartments and penthouses. It is being developed by the Oceans Umhlanga Development Company and spearheaded by entrepreneur, Vivian Reddy, of Edison Corporation and his partner, Rob Alexander, of the Ducatus Property Group.
The 33 000 sqm shopping mall will include South African brands and leading global brands such as Burberry, Emporio Armani, Versace First Line, Gucci, Zegna, Jimmy Choo, Mont Blanc, Paul & Shark, Ferragamo, Paul Smith, 7 for Mankind and Hugo Boss.
The Oceans Umhlanga Development Company is in negotiations with Louis Vuitton in Paris to establish a branded store in this complex, which will place Oceans Umhlanga Mall among the top three exclusive malls in the country, alongside Cape Town's V&A Waterfront and Johannesburg's Sandton City, says Reddy.
“The concept, profile and quintessential design of the Oceans Project makes it the most modern and exciting regional precinct development in recent South African development history and comprise three spectacular buildings,” said Reddy.
