Boy Johannes Nobunga has been appointed new Chief Executive Officer of Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency on a five-year contract, effective April 3, the board announced this week.
Nobunga formerly served as a Member of Parliament from 1994-2009. In his final term, he was Deputy Speaker of the Mpumalanga Legislature. He has an Honours Degree in Commerce from the University of the Western Cape.
Thulani Nzima, Chairperson of the MTPA board, said he was delighted to welcome Nobunga to MTPA. “He brings in a wealth of experience and strategic management capabilities. His experience in leadership roles within government and other sectors will be invaluable as we strive to position Mpumalanga province as one of the key tourism destinations in South Africa.
“We trust that this appointment will assist in bringing stability to the agency and further strive to fulfil the agency’s mandate to manage conservation and promote Mpumalanga as a preferred tourist destination.”
The board also expressed gratitude to Abe Sibiya, Head of Biodiversity Conservation at MTPA, who acted as Chief Executive in the interim.
