Inzolo Exclusive Game Lodge in the Eastern Cape has opened.
The boutique valley-facing lodge is in a Big Five reserve and consists of four chalets, each sleeping two adults. There is a pool on the property and a 180-degree viewing deck.
Inzolo is situated in 6 500 hectares of bush – 250 of which are used for the lodge’s conservancy project – and is close to both Port Elizabeth (80km) and Grahamstown (30km).
The in-house chef prepares all meals using only locally sourced ingredients as well as the lodge’s own homegrown vegetables and herbs.
Owners, Paul Lynch and David Hurr, originally purchased the land as a farm and are committed to the conservation and sustainability of the land, as well as supporting the local community.
Hunting is prohibited from the farm, and the lodge has successfully launched two conservation initiatives – the interactive buffalo breeding project and the protection of the endangered Cape Mountain zebra.
Guests are invited to help dart the buffalo to allow the conservation team to test for TB and other related diseases. Inzolo has also set up a protected enclave in which the Cape Mountain zebra can live and breed.
