Wild Horizons will close The Elephant Camp at the end of January for extensive renovations. It is due to reopen in mid-April.

The camp is situated on a ridge between the Masuwe River and the Zambezi gorges, in the teak woodland of Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls National Park, giving guests an uninterrupted view of the spray from the Falls.

Craig White, Chief Operating Officer of Wild Horizons, will lead the renovation programme. “Our aim is to maintain the rich history and character of the camp, while renovating it to the highest industry standards and minimising any negative impact on the environment,” said White.

Guest suites and communal areas, as well as front-of-house service areas will be upgraded and a luxury spa and gym will be added.

The planned refurbishment will further assist in achieving the highest standards of sustainability, with all decks being replaced with environmentally friendly decking, and existing geysers replaced with solar-powered ones.

The Elephant Camp Main and Elephant Camp West will be closed from January 28 to February 28 (inclusive), during which the bulk of the refurbishments will be completed. The impact of the refurbishments on guests’ experience during March and April will be minimal, if at all. During this period, The Elephant Camp Main will remain open with 10 rooms available for use.

The Elephant Camp Main has accommodation for 24 guests in 12 luxury tents, and Elephant Camp West has four luxury exclusive tents for families and groups.
