Pangolin Photo Safaris has announced the opening of Chobe’s only photo-centric hotel, Pangolin Chobe Hotel, in Kasane, Botswana. The hotel officially opened its doors on July 26.
Built on a hillside, overlooking the Caprivi and Chobe floodplains, the hotel was designed by Co-owner, Gerhard ‘Guts’ Swanepoel, using environmentally sensitive materials along with traditional building methods, blending the building into the surrounding area.
The hotel sleeps 28 guests and offers an all-inclusive package with meals, park fees, drinks, transfers to Kasane and signature photography activities by boat and land, as well as camera hire and tuition, from US$295 per person sharing.
Guests are also provided with an SD memory card to take away loaded with the images captured during their stay. The hotel has a gallery filled with photographs of the area, to inspire budding photographers.
Photographic excursions take place in Pangolin’s customised boats and vehicles, designed specifically for mounting high-calibre cameras and telephoto lenses. Each vehicle takes up to eight guests, a group small enough to ensure one-on-one time with the host to help develop guests’ photography skills.
A trip to Chobe can be combined with a stay at Pangolin Khwai Camp in the Okavango Delta, an hour’s flight from Kasane.
