Rwanda has been voted one of the top 30 global emerging travel destinations for 2020, and number-one overall in Africa, in the 2020 Emerging Destination Awards by TravelLemming.com.

The site promotes emerging destinations around the world as a solution to over-tourism. Winners were selected from votes by 30 popular travel bloggers, who collectively have more than 12 million followers on social media.

“We are honoured to receive this award and be among the top countries to be visited in 2020 as rated by the world’s leading travel bloggers. Visit Rwanda shares this award with the community members, conservationists, tourism operators and hoteliers who contribute every day to making Rwanda a special place to visit,” said Belise Kariza, Chief Tourism Officer of the Rwanda Development Board.

The Board said the recognition showed that Rwanda was “truly one of the world’s most remarkable luxury ecotourism destinations and will encourage more people who haven’t visited Rwanda yet to come and experience the country’s tourism offerings”.
