SAA is the official airline partner for the Africa Football Business Summit 2024 at the Weston Hotel in Nairobi on October 24-25. The partnership was publicised by the Football Foundation for Africa (FFA), an organisation focused on leveraging football for social and economic development across the continent.
This partnership aligns with SAA’s mission to connect and unite Africa, which resonates with the broader agenda of the FFA. As football continues to be a unifying force across the continent, this collaboration aims to facilitate discussions on the intersection of football, business and social impact. SAA’s role as the airline partner will enable delegates to access discounted travel, thanks to the codeshare agreement with Kenya Airways.
SAA Regional Manager for East Africa and the Middle East Austin Nyawara highlighted the importance of sustainable and affordable air travel in supporting the growth of Africa’s sports economy. He expressed SAA’s enthusiasm by offering discounts of up to 15% on airfares for summit participants, emphasising the airline’s commitment to “connecting Africa one flight at a time”.
The partnership is also a reflection of SAA’s long-standing involvement in sports sponsorships, including its previous support of South Africa's national rugby team, the Springboks, and its ongoing partnership with the South African Football Association.
Brian Wesaala, FAA Founder and CEO, expressed optimism about future collaborations with SAA, noting that the partnership will contribute significantly to building a sustainable and thriving sports economy across Africa.
