With just 12 days to go before the African Tourism Leadership Forum (ATLF) and Awards 2023 kicks off in Gaborone, Botswana, on October 4, SADC Executive Secretary, Elias M Magosi is the latest to join Pan-African and global thought-leaders as part of the speaker line-up.
The ATLF will be preceded by an entrepreneurship masterclass and business-to-business meetings on October 3.
Kwakye Donkor, CEO of Africa Tourism Partners – organisers of the ATLF – pointed out that regional economic integration remained a strategic priority of SADC in its efforts to contribute to sustainable growth and development, thereby alleviating and eventually eradicating poverty in all the SADC member states.
“Therefore, the theme of the forum, ‘Igniting intra-Africa tourism, through inclusive intra-Africa trade, partnerships and investments’, is relevant to the SADC, and resonates well with the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan 2020-2030 that aims to market the SADC region as a single tourism destination,” he said.
Policymakers, industry representatives, professionals, travel trade, media, academics, and youth organisations from over forty countries will be represented at this year’s Forum to connect, network, and share knowledge and trade insights.
Among the countries are Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia. Similar to the 2022 Forum, a total of over 600 delegates have registered to participate and leverage this platform for market access development.
To reinforce the significance of travel, tourism and hospitality entrepreneurship, Africa Tourism Partners, the Botswana Tourism Organisation and the University of South Africa will jointly deliver the Tourism Entrepreneurship Masterclass as well a bespoke Women in Tourism Entrepreneurship programme as well.
Limited space is available to register for physical attendance, one-on-one B2B session, desk-top exhibition and destinations showcase. Register now www.tourismleadershipforum.africa
