More than 90 pupils in Muzi Thusi and Grange Primary Schools in KwaZulu Natal received school uniforms this week.
They were provided by KwaZulu Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Siboniso Duma, in his capacity as MEC Champion for uMgungundlovu District Municipality, accompanied by MEC for Social Development, Nonhlanhla Khoza, and the South African Social Security Agency.
Both schools are in Msunduzi Local Municipality under uMgungundlovu District Municipality.
The programme forms part of the government’s initiative to ensure that all children attend school in full uniforms. The handover marked the official delivery of the uniforms to help the neediest pupils across the province.
The programme aims to open doors of learning to ensure that all children go to school, as well as restoring the dignity of learners after the severe impact of the floods that affected the province in April last year, which resulted in a number of learners losing their uniforms.
