Sports and Events Tourism Exchange (SETE) conference and exhibition, has announced additional speakers, from Cell C and Nedbank, as well as Martin Reynolds, Head of Marketing at Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
The SETE conference facilitates relationships between South Africa's tourism, sports and events industries, by promoting South Africa as the ideal destination for popular events, as well as promoting Africa as a training destination for athletes. Conference speakers and delegates will be giving advice to attendees about how to bid and attract mega and medium-sized sports events to South Africa and the African continent.
At the event, Reynolds will share his 10 years of experience working with some of the world’s biggest events and entertainment brands. Before the Glasgow games, he worked in senior marketing roles at the Edinburgh Festival, Sydney Opera House and the National Galleries of Scotland.
With over 15 years of brand marketing and sponsorship experience on premium brands, Wayne Merris, an Executive at Cell C, will be part of the SETE panel, sharing his knowledge in commercial sponsorship management and leveraging at the highest level, local football media and premium global brand marketing.
Sydney Mbhele, Divisional Executive: Group Marketing at Nedbank, will speak about his experience in brand building, advertising, media, sponsorships, digital marketing and cause marketing for the group.
In addition, conference attendees will hear from Gillian Saunders, who will speak about Global and National Trends of the Sports and Events Tourism Industry, Professor Guy Masterman whose topic is ‘Planning for Event Legacies’ using multi-sport event case studies and Michael Linley who will speak on ‘Bidding and Hosting International Events – the international buyers’ perspective.’
SETE will take place at the Durban International Convention Centre on October 29 and 30.
