The Table Bay Hotel, one of Cape Town’s most recognisable landmarks, will temporarily close in February 2025 to undergo a R1 billion (€51.3 million) transformation. Upon completion, the property will reopen as the InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town – introducing the InterContinental brand to the city for the first time.
The refurbishment will enhance the hotel’s luxury offerings while maintaining its status as a premier destination at the V&A Waterfront.
Key upgrades include:
- Expansion from 261 to 306 rooms including 45 new suites
- Elevated outdoor space with panoramic harbour and mountain views
- Dedicated space for premium guests under the InterContinental brand
- A new wellness facility to complement the hotel’s luxury services
- Modernised interiors designed to enhance the guest experience
The hotel, currently operated by Sun International, has been a key player in Cape Town’s hospitality sector since opening in 1997. The partnership with InterContinental Hotels Group will align the property with global luxury standards.
Operations are expected to resume later this year with the investment aiming to maintain the Table Bay Hotel’s reputation as a leading luxury destination for local and international travellers.
