The Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) has announced the official plans for this year’s Swahili International Trade Expo (S!TE), taking place between October 12 and 14 at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam.
Now in its fourth year, S!TE aims to bring together exhibitors from 13 African countries including Tanzania, Zanzibar, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Mauritius and Malawi, with buyers from all over the world to showcase Africa’s tourism offerings. The expo hopes to connect tourism operators in Tanzania and neighbouring countries with major tourist markets through the hosted buyer programme.
TTB is also offering participants an opportunity to attend seminars and workshops covering a range of topics within the tourism industry. TTB Board Chairman, Thomas Mihayo, said the expo would focus on the themes of conservation and sustainable tourism, tropical tourism and East Africa. “S!TE is providing a modern and effective trade fair concept to connect the travel industry.”
Participants are also given the opportunity to explore Tanzania after the expo through a number of organised ‘familiarisation trips’ aimed at exposing Tanzania’s key attractions, including Mafia Island, Zanzibar and the wildlife.
