Botswana has proposed that travellers should have to present a COVID-19 vaccination certificate on arrival.
President Eric Mokgweetsi Masisi said: “To enhance our protection at ports of entry, we will without fail ensure strict enforcement of the 72-hour negative PCR policy. Furthermore, a valid vaccine certificate will be required on arrival.”
The health director is expected to soon issue a notice through a Government Gazette to formally implement the new regulation. Currently, only a 72-hour negative PCR result is required to enter the country.
According to the latest COVID-19 vaccination report, Botswana has so far fully vaccinated 1 034 735 of its estimated total population of 2.4 million as of December 30.
