Gail Westphal, GM Sales and Marketing for Gooderson Leisure Hospitality Group, has been appointed to the board of Tourism Marketing South Africa (TOMSA) where she will represent KwaZulu Natal. Westphal studied public relations and marketing through Damelin and has worked at Gooderson Leisure since 2010.
“I am honoured to have been approached to sit on the TOMSA board. This is an invaluable opportunity to contribute to the growth of tourism both nationally and locally,” she said.
Michelle Bingham has been appointed Sales Manager - Corporate at the Sandton Convention Centre (SCC). Bingham has experience in the hospitality industry covering the majority of hospitality disciplines. She has worked at The Westcliff and Mount Nelson hotels.
Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) has promoted Mala Dorasamy to Marketing, Sales and Events Director. She has been with the Durban ICC since it opened in 1997 and has worked in the marketing and sales department for the last 16 years. Her previous experience includes working at Sun International at the Sun City complex as assistant banqueting manager.

Rey Franco has been appointed Manager at Victoria & Alfred Hotel. Franco’s 23 years’ experience in the industry includes working at Halcyon Hotels, The Palace at Sun City, The Mount Grace Hotel & Spa, Villa Via, and Cape Royale Luxury Hotel & Spa. “It is a great privilege to be given the opportunity to take the Victoria & Alfred Hotel forward after a successful 22 years of operation,” he said.
Chef Matthew Gordon has joined Angala Boutique Hotel & Guest House team as Executive Chef.
Louis de Waal has retired as chairman of the board of The Table Mountain Cableway after serving the company for 40 years. De Waal has been chairman since 1993.
