RwandAir has received a new Airbus 330-200, bringing its total fleet to nine. Four additional aircraft are expected to be delivered by end of February next year.
The carrier expects to receive another Airbus 330-300 in November to operate on the Kigali-Dubai route.
RwandAir Chief Executive, John Mirenge, said the new aircraft was the first of its kind in East Africa and that it would boost the airline’s plans of expanding routes across the world.
The airline has set its sights on routes to Guangzhou and Mumbai, as well as reaching out to destinations in Western Europe. Mirenge said recently that the carrier was planning to introduce flights to Mumbai in December and had appointed India’s Bird Travel as a general sales agent as it prepares to launch the new route.
