Tourvest is launching South Africa’s first fine-dining restaurant boat at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town on September 1.
The Alba is modelled on similar concepts in tourist cities from other parts of the world including Bateaux London, Bateaux Parisiens and the Melbourne River Cruises. The Alba is 22 metres long with a six-metre beam. It seats 72 guests or can host 100 guests for cocktail-style functions.
Brian Seaman, CEO of Tourvest Restaurants and Taverns, says: “It has been designed to be stable and smooth in the water, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows that will enable a comfortable dining experience with great views, regardless of the weather.” Seaman says the vessel is fully compliant with the safety regulations of the South African Maritime Safety Authority. “The captain and crew are seasoned veterans, fully qualified to handle a vessel of this size.”
Cruises will range between one-and-a-half to two hours, beginning with four cruises a day. Bookings are now open for a ‘bubbly brunch’, lunch, sunset cruise, high tea (on Saturdays only) or dinner cruise. The Alba will also cater for private functions like corporate events and weddings.
