Shearwater Adventures is set to add early-morning and mid-morning cruises on the Zambezi River, complementing its popular sunset cruise, as part of its expansion drive for 2019, says spokesperson, Clement Mukwasi.
Late last year the company acquired a 100-seat up-market cruise boat. The two-deck boat was manufactured by a Bulawayo company at a cost of about US$500 000, and is already in Victoria Falls, ready for use before the end of the first quarter of 2019.
The new cruises have been added to meet demand from the market in the wake of renewed interest in destination Zimbabwe, which is expected to grow further this year, he says.
He says it is a year-round activity and even when it is raining, a cruise can still be undertaken.
Shearwater operates a variety of cruises on the upper stretches of the Zambezi River above the Victoria Falls. It is not unusual to spot families of elephant swimming from island to island, or to get close to crocodiles and pods of hippo in their natural habitat during the cruise.
