Several roads have been closed in the Kruger National Park after the weekend’s heavy rains and flooding in parts of the park.
The Sable Dam Hide was flooded and guests in the area were evacuated after their vehicles were flooded. SANParks was able to retrieve their vehicles from the water.
Social Media Coordinator of SANParks, Accolade Ubisi, told Tourism Update that although maintenance teams were working on the roads, they still remained closed. “There are some roads where nothing can be done and we will have to wait for the water levels to decrease. All roads with low-water bridges remain closed,” she said.
Acting Head of Communications and General Manager of SANParks, Reynold Thakhuli, said rangers were assisting in rerouting traffic if necessary for those still arriving at KNP.
“SANParks urges all road users and visitors to exercise extreme caution when approaching low-lying bridges and not to use roads with no-entry signs. There are no challenges or concerns with other camps except for Sable Dam Hide," said Thakhuli.

- All gravel roads in Phalaborwa section
- All gravel roads closed in Lower Sabie Section
- All roads on Kingfisherspruit section (Orpen area)
