Independent regional carrier, Airlink – which currently flies to 13 African destinations – is looking to expand its services into Africa and has ordered four new Embraer E-195s to service the new routes.
In an exclusive interview with Tourism Update, Executive Manager of Sales and Marketing for Airlink, Carla da Silva, said this would bring the carrier’s fleet to a total of 60 aircraft in operation, with more to come.
GSA appointed for East Africa
Furthermore, Airlink is, with effect from February 2023, increasing its presence in East Africa in terms of marketing and sales, and has appointed GSA Aviareps to fulfil this function in Kenya and Tanzania.
The airline already flies five days a week to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and from December 6, has additional flights on a Tuesday and Thursday morning until January 17.
Aviareps is to promote Airlink’s impressive schedule of flights, which currently connect 45 destinations throughout Southern Africa and East Africa. It will represent and raise Airlink’s brand visibility in East Africa and support the airline’s drive to increase its share of inbound travel to Southern Africa.
Da Silva told Tourism Update that the airline had an excellent long-standing relationship with Aviareps. “We like working with them, not only because of their impeccable global reputation but because their business values and putting people first, align with ours.”
The GSA represents Airlink in Europe and Latin America as well.
“We are delighted to have been selected by Airlink, which is an important and dynamic carrier, to support it with our GSA services. This new partnership will add value to our firm and we look forward to working closely with Airlink to increase its penetration in these markets,” said Marcelo Kaiser, COO of Aviareps.
