The seventh Cape Town Golf Championship, the annual tournament that takes place at various golf estates over four days, will be held from August 14-18.
The tournament is open to amateurs and club professionals.
There are two trophies to play for: the pairs (team of two) trophy and the single (individual) trophy. Teams competing in pairs can be men only, ladies only, or mixed.
“It all started eight years ago with an idea I had to try and look at increasing the business into the Western Cape during the period April to September every year. Hence the tournament taking place in August,” Reg Ferreira, Director of Business Development at Sable Hospitality Group, told Tourism Update.
Attracting 48 players in its first year, the tournament will host over 100 players in 2023.
“We now attract players from Namibia, eSwatini, Zimbabwe, Liberia and Zambia and, of course, South Africa,” Ferreira added.
The four-day competition will take place as follows:
- Monday, August 14, at Devonvale Golf & Wine Estate (pairs and singles).
- Tuesday, August 15, at Paarl Boschenmeer Golf Club (pairs).
- Thursday, August 17, at Stellenbosch Golf Club (pairs).
- Friday, August 18, at King David Mowbray Golf Club (pairs and singles).
