Travellers will soon be able to experience the Kruger National Park and its history through 360 VR videos in a ‘Fireside Stories – KRUGER360’ series to be launched by digital marketing agency, Platypus Digital.
The company is currently in pre-production for its first series of ten 360 VR videos to be filmed in the Great Kruger region. It will be an entertaining and engaging way to share the Kruger stories and market it to an international audience.
“We’re taking a story-driven approach to marketing that will encourage visitors to come and experience the real thing,” said Stanley Edwards, Director of Platypus Digital.
Viewers will be able to learn about the role of the first warden, James Stevenson-Hamilton, in setting up the Park from nothing, the Selati Railway Line scandal and the railway accident in 1968.
They will be able to discover the role of game rangers during the Park’s early years, find out what happened during the Wolhuter lion attack in 1903, explore rock art and other primitive human remains in the Park and experience what it was like for the first tourists to visit the Kruger.
These and more intriguing stories will be hosted by Joep Stevens, who spent over 30 years with SANParks and is constantly researching Kruger history to promote its rich heritage.
Fireside Stories - KRUGER360 will be the first of four series that will include SOUTH AFRICA360, CAPE TOWN360 and WINE360 which will showcase interesting and engaging stories around South Africa, Cape Town and the Winelands.
All four series will be available via the Virtually Visiting platform.
