BON Hotels has acquired two new KwaZulu Natal properties. The Protea Hotel Empangeni and the Protea Hotel Richards Bay will be rebranded the BON Hotel Empangeni and BON Hotel Waterfront Richards Bay. This news comes after the May acquisition of Hotel 64 on Gordon in Durban.
BON Hotel Empangeni is in the central business district of the town, halfway between Durban and Swaziland. The hotel comprises 55 rooms, an in-house restaurant, bar and three meeting rooms with a total seating capacity of 230 people.
BON Hotel Waterfront Richards Bay offers 75 rooms with views of the ocean and yacht harbour. Facilities include a conference centre with three meeting rooms, restaurant, cocktail bar and lounge and swimming pool.
Guy Stehlik, CEO of BON Hotels, says: “These hotels are the best in their class in their respective locations and it’s going to be our job to make sure that we build on that good base.”
Stehlik also notes that BON Hotels is working to develop its portfolio in KZN. It is also looking to create inter-city tourism circuits, as it is doing in Angola and Nigeria, to boost the industry and link important locations across the country.
