Acsa has reported that after a few days of shortages of jet fuel at Cape Town airport, the situation was restored to normal today, Monday March 6.
Acsa said that refinery production over the prior 24 hours was stable and the situation was being monitored closely.
The situation escalated last Friday, March3, when Acsa reported that some Jet A1 fuel suppliers were running low on supply reserves at Cape Town International Airport, “due to factors impacting one of the major suppliers of fuel to the airlines”.
This necessitated an official Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) being issued, informing airlines of the low Jet A1 stock situation, and asking these airlines to engage their suppliers and to limit uplift.
A News24 report said domestic airlines were told late on Thursday night of the supply issues and were informed that tankering fuel was required immediately.
The report also claimed that the shortage was due to so-called “loadshedding” power cuts.
