Federal Airlines has announced that, effective February 1, it will cease Vilanculos scheduled flights, with the last operational flight on January 31.
“After 10 years of operation, it has been a difficult decision to make, however with the global economic downturn, the airline has seen a continuing decline in passenger numbers – even over the busiest of seasons,” said a statement from the airline.
Federal Airlines decided to maintain the service until the end of January so that passengers would not be affected and to give them enough time to make alternative arrangements from February 1.
Travellers who have paid for confirmed bookings in full will be reimbursed according to conditions of carriage. Re-imbursements will be handled by the airline’s reservations team, who can be contacted on reservations@fedair.com, or 011 395 9000.
Daily FedAir shuttle services from OR Tambo International Airport to the Sabi Sand, Timbavati/Kruger region and the Madikwe Game Reserve as well as scheduled services from Pietermaritzburg Airport to Durban and Ulundi, Zululand, will not be affected.
