South African hotel group, aha Hotels & Lodges, has completed the refurbishment of its five-star Makalali River Lodge in the Greater Makalali Private Game Reserve outside Limpopo’s safari capital of Hoedspruit.
Set on the banks of the Makhutswi River, the lodge is split into three camps, each of which has six luxury suites and its own distinct style. Each camp is now designed to offer a personalised and secluded experience, with its own main area, pool and boma.
The lodge has been refreshed with new furnishings and finishes designed to echo the natural beauty of the surrounding bushveld.
Each thatched suite, along with the family suite, has a raised viewing deck overlooking the river, a fireplace, and an en-suite bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower and bath and fireplace.
Adjacent to River Lodge, aha’s Makalali Main Lodge offers additional five-star accommodation in 30 superior rooms.
Situated west of the Kruger National Park, Makalali Private Game Reserve is a 26 000ha conservancy that is home to the Big Five and a variety of other wildlife species, which can be viewed on twice-daily game drives.
