Royal Portfolio: New Executive Head of Sales
The Royal Portfolio has appointed Nigel Pace as its new Executive Head of Sales. With nearly 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry – 25 in General Manager roles – Pace brings extensive expertise in luxury hospitality.
He has held key positions at The Liz McGrath Collection, The Plettenberg Hotel, Cape Grace and Singita. His international experience includes roles at Niyama Private Islands in the Maldives and The Stack as well as Head of Hospitality at Tswalu Kalahari Reserve.

Marriott: New Regional Vice President for Sub-Saharan Africa
Marriott International has appointed Johan Cronjé as its new Regional Vice President for Sub-Saharan Africa. Based in Cape Town, Cronjé will oversee Marriott’s managed and franchised operations across the region.
With over 20 years of experience, Cronjé has held various leadership roles within Marriott, including Regional General Manager for South Africa and Tanzania and Area Director of Operations for Sub-Saharan Africa.
“It is an honour to take on this role in such a dynamic and diverse region. I look forward to working with our talented teams, owners and partners to expand our footprint and enhance our offerings across Sub-Saharan Africa,” said Cronjé.

Radisson: New Managing Director for Sub-Saharan Africa
Sandra Kneubuhler has been promoted to Managing Director for Sub-Saharan Africa at Radisson Hotel Group. She will lead the group’s operations in English-speaking African countries.
In 2024, Radisson expanded its footprint in Africa with the addition of seven properties, bringing its portfolio close to 100 hotels. Looking ahead, Kneubuhler sees strong growth potential in Nigeria, Tanzania and South Africa.
Her priorities include boosting the region’s profitability, nurturing female leadership and hosting the inaugural Radisson Academy Live in Nigeria to support training and development. “I look forward to leading our teams across Africa as we work towards our expansion goals and continue raising industry standards,” she said.
Rochell Schonken will take over Kneubuhler’s previous role as Country Director of Sales for South Africa.

Claire Le Lay has been named the new President of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority. With a background in luxury branding and tourism communications, she will aim to reposition Mauritius as a high-value, sustainable destination.
