Bloemfontein is to host a guided tour through the city showcasing its most photographable sights worthy of sharing on Instagram.
The ‘Instawalk’ was initiated by the Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State Bloemfontein's Tourism Department.
The tour will be led by Dr Johan Hattingh, Head of Department and full-time lecturer at CUT and Tourism Management lecturer, Dr Eben Proos.
"It is exciting to be able to combine photography and knowledge, which has led us to experiment on Instawalk tours throughout Bloemfontein. We have opted to start with a tour around the Anglo-Boer War Museum Precinct as the history is rich and the walking will not be extensive and we can gauge interest and ideas of where to position the next ones,” said Hattingh.
There will be no cost to join the walk but, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the walk will be limited to 30 people. Those wanting to join can claim their ticket by tagging #BloemInstaWalk on their Instagram stories.
“The photographic opportunities will be vast; from the Women's Memorial to the British blockhouse to various statues and, appropriately, an 1894 steam disinfector machine among several others,” said Hattingh.
