Feather Down Farm Days, a glamorous camping operator is extending its concept to South Africa which lets guests experience farm-style living without having to ‘rough it up’.
The first ‘glamping’ farm to open in SA will be Fontainebleau Farm in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands, near Balgowan, a 90 minute drive from Durban and 40 minutes from Pietermaritzburg.
On the farm there are two different types of tents to choose from, both sleeping up to six people. The tents feature en-suite bathrooms with proper flushing toilets and showers as well as comfortable beds and wood burning stoves. The second tent option includes house keeping , a hot tub, hammock, sofa, and outside donkey boilers lit.
Guests can collect their own eggs for breakfast, explore forests, and feed pigs and calves. There is also a breeding colony of Natal Midlands Dwarf Chameleons to observe. There are visiting horses, a veggie patch to pick through and guinea fowl, reedbuck and bush buck to spot.
Feather Down Farm Days plans to expand its glamping holidays to other locations within Africa in the upcoming months.
