Kenya has signed a financing agreement with the French Agency for Development (AFD) to modernise Moi International Airport in Mombasa.
Dominic Ngigi, Corporate Affairs Manager at Kenya Airports Authority said work at the airport will begin in January 2016 and that currently designs are underway, as well as considerations for tenders and the approval process.
Lucy Mbugua, Kenya Airport Authority's MD, said the loan would fund the rehabilitation of the airport's airside pavements, including ground lighting, as well as the upgrading of power and water supply.
Operations will not be affected during the renovation process and the airport will remain open through out, Nigigi said.
