KLM has organised repatriation flights for Dutch nationals and other residents of Europe from Cape Town and Johannesburg in conjunction with the Dutch Embassy in South Africa.
Flights will depart from Cape Town on June 27 and July 4 (KL 598), and from Johannesburg on June 28 and July 5 (KL 592).
Tickets can be booked via the KLM website and during the booking process each passenger is required to fill out a web form mandated by South African government.
Once passengers have received their tickets, they should request their Embassy, or the Embassy of their destination, to issue a letter allowing them to travel to the assembly point on the day of departure. From the assembly point passengers will be transported to the airport by bus. It is not permitted for passengers to travel directly to the airport.
KLM has put a series of health and safety measures in place, including the mandatory wearing of facial protection during boarding and flight.
Those permitted to travel include:
· Citizens of the EU, the UK, Norway and Switzerland
· Holders of a residence permit for any of the EU countries
· Holders of a residence permit for the UK, Norway or Switzerland
· Third-country residents (outside the EU, UK, Switzerland and Norway) in transit in Amsterdam with a connecting flight to countries outside the EU Schengen area, with their luggage labelled through
· Foreign citizens married to EU citizens issued with the appropriate visa for their destination
· Foreign citizens with a residence permit for any of the EU countries, the UK, Switzerland and Norway
· Foreign citizens holding MVV (D-visa) for any of the EU countries, the UK, Switzerland and Norway.
