The closure of Lower Sabie tented camp in the Kruger National Park has been postponed until the end of April. This comes after an announcement was circulated among guests last week that the camp would be closed from February 1 until the end of the 2017 financial year.
The camp will be upgraded in phases from May. Bookings for tents in poor condition will be discounted at a rate of 20%, effective immediately. Six tents have already been upgraded, and will be subject to the full rate. In the case of fully paid reservations, the discounted amount will be credited to the SANParks customer account as a ‘credit on hold’, which can be used for future reservations or camp activities.
Guests who are scheduled to stay in a tent that has been earmarked for upgrades at the time of their visit, will be contacted to discuss alternative accommodation options without any cost implication.
Should guests who had changed their bookings at Lower Sabie since the first advisory wish to revert to their original bookings, they can contact Lower Sabie directly.
“We apologise for all the inconvenience caused by the first notice,” William Mabasa, GM of Communications and Marketing at SANParks, told Tourism Update.
