Effective October 28, Lufthansa’s seasonal flights to Cape Town will move from Frankfurt to Munich.
In a statement, the airline said that, as the night flight ban in Frankfurt had been restrictively implemented in the current summer flight schedule Lufthansa had already reduced departures from Frankfurt during evening hours or advanced them to earlier hours. “The evening flight to Cape Town will now be moved from Frankfurt to Munich in the interests of increased flight operation reliability and stability.”
In the airline’s upcoming winter flight schedule, Cape Town will be served from Munich five times a week using an Airbus A340-300. The 221-seat aircraft will be configured with eight seats in first class, 48 in business class and 165 economy-class seats.
Passengers who are already booked on the Frankfurt-Cape Town flight will be rebooked at no charge and informed accordingly in the next few days. The departure times from Munich will change only slightly compared with those from Frankfurt.
Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturday and Sundays, departing Munich at 22h00, arriving in Cape Town at 10h35.
The return service will depart Cape Town at 19h00, arriving in Munich at 05h35 the following day.
