The Madiba’s Journey mobile app has been translated into Portuguese and there are plans to make it available in other languages, including Afrikaans, Zulu, Xhosa, Dutch, French, German, Italian and simple Mandarin.
The app was launched earlier this year by SA Tourism, in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
Madiba’s Journey allows tourists to navigate through attractions that relate to Nelson Mandela and is based on the ‘Madiba-inspired tourist attractions’ map, which was introduced in 2014.
The app provides information about the attractions as well as audio describing the attraction. It also includes an itinerary builder for users to plan their route.
The app can be downloaded on the Apple App store and the Google Play store.
