Mango has confirmed that it has reached an agreement with trade union Solidarity following a wage dispute regarding its pilots.
Moira-Marie Kloppers, spokesperson for the union, said on Wednesday (October 31) that should wage negotiations reach a dead-end, a strike certificate would be issued but that the union would only then begin the process of acquiring a mandate from its members.
According to a statement released by Solidarity, Mango pilots earn 30% less than their peers at Comair and 45% less than pilots at SAA, despite Mango being a subsidiary of the national carrier.
Detailed information about the agreement reached was not available at the time of publishing.
