On October 30, Sun International’s The Table Bay hotel in the V&A Waterfront was officially reopened by the newly crowned Miss South Africa, Shudufhadzo Musida.
The five-star hotel is the last Sun International hotel to reopen after seven months of lockdown. The week prior to its public reopening, the hotel hosted the finale of the 2020 Miss South Africa pageant.
The hotel has in the past hosted several notable guests, all of whom have been commemorated with plaques at the hotel’s statue of its mascot, Oscar the Cape Fur seal.
These guests include, royalty, heads of state, rock stars and South Africa’s own Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, The Table Bay has put extensive health and safety protocols in place to ensure the safety of guests. Measures include stringent cleaning and sanitising, physical distancing both in front and back-of-house, temperature checks on entry and completing medical questionnaires on arrival.
