Drifters adds new tour to portfolio
Drifters is launching its 16-day Southern Highlights Tour at Indaba. This new tour will travel from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls. Highlights include exploring the mountain Kingdom of Lesotho, the Kingdom of Swaziland, the beaches of Mozambique, the Kruger Park and Zimbabwe, with a variety of wildlife excursions and adventure activities. The tour will take a maximum of 17 guests and travel in a custom-built Drifters truck. Activities include mountain hikes, extensive game drives, rhino tracking on foot, cultural interaction and time to relax on the beach. The tour also includes 11 nights’ accommodation.

Tourvest’s theatrical day tours
Tourvest Destination Management is offering three theatrical tours through Cape Town, Johannesburg and Pretoria. The tours are named according to the historic events in these three destinations. ‘Amandla’ is a full-day guided theatrical freedom tour through the life and history of former ANC leader, Walter Sisulu, and anti-Apartheid activists such as Nelson Mandela and Ruth First. ‘War and peace’ takes guests on a full-day tour through the jacaranda-lined streets of Pretoria, from the Voortrekker Monument to Church Square and the Union Buildings. The third tour, ‘Mother City’ is also a full-day tour, which takes guests through the history of Cape of Storms. From the Castle of Good Hope to Signal Hill, the V&A Waterfront and the Cape Malay cuisine experience.

Tourvest launches new eight-day ‘Best of South Africa Tour’
Tourvest Destination Management introduces a new eight-day tour that shows Johannesburg’s historic attractions, such as Liliesleaf and Constitution Hill, to both the Germanic and English markets. Also included is the opportunity to view the ‘Big 5’ in a private game reserve, Panorama route sites, as well as three days to discover the Cape, including a traditional dinner show. This eight day ‘Kruger to Cape’ scheduled guided tour is also available as a private guided tour. A self-drive option can be combined with the five-day circular tour should guests want to experience the Winelands and Garden Route.

Wilderness Safaris launches Cape tours division
Wilderness Safaris is launching Private Journeys, a fully integrated division within the company that has evolved from the previously independent brand, Wilderness Touring Cape Town. Private Journeys will offer tailor-made, privately guided tours of Cape Town, the Cape Peninsula, the Winelands, and other Western Cape attractions. Private Journeys has also started to develop the ability to book these packages through the Wilderness Window – Wilderness Safaris’ online booking system.

Thompsons’ Wildlife, Wine and Garden Route Guided Journey
Thompsons Africa has launched a new six-day tour that explores the treasures, wildlife and hidden gems of Oudtshoorn, the Garden Route, Albertinia and Hermanus. The tour starts in Cape Town and continues via the village of Barrydale to Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo. Guests will have the opportunity to visit a local farm school and spend the night surrounded by views of the Swartberg and Outeniqua Mountains.
Also included along the journey is a tour of the Cango Caves and an ostrich farm. Departures are on selected Mondays, from Cape Town from January 4 to December 13, 2018.

Constitutional Court tour introduced
The new Constitutional Court tour is a one-hour tour conducted by a court expert, who discusses the importance of the court in South Africa’s constitutional dispensation, as well as the significance of the building's architecture and artworks. Visitors are welcome to ask questions on any matter relating to the Court.

New 16-day South African tour
Tourvest Destination Management has adapted its product offering so that this tour now ends in Cape Town instead of Johannesburg. The tour will include smaller groups, and promotes smaller accommodation establishments and tour routings that are not recommended for coach travel. One of the highlights is a secluded Wild Coast gem that allows guests to connect with and give back to the local community. The 16-day scheduled guided tour is also available as a private guided tour, or on a self-drive basis - ideal for guests who want more flexibility or are budget conscious.

Constitution Hill unveils new student programmes
Constitution Hill’s education department has developed educational tours and programmes for educators and learners. The Education Room and schools’ programmes are designed to offer age-appropriate programmes, tailor-made to suit learners and educators. The following school programmes are available for the 2017 school year. Programmes are offered from Monday to Friday, from 09h00 to 11h00 and from 12h00 to 14h00. They include an education programme facilitator, a one-hour tour and a one-hour CAP-aligned educational programme of participants’ choice. Each programme emphasises core competencies such as teamwork, problem solving and critical thinking skills, and accommodates visual, kinaesthetic and auditory learning styles. About 60 learners can be accommodated. Booking is essential.

New nine-day ranger experience
Tourvest Destination Managementis now offering a nine day Eco Ranger Experience. Although this adventure is structured around a typical ranger training programme, it is aimed at international leisure travellers. Guests will experience a journey exploring the northern Kruger National Park area whilst acquiring new skills at the same time.

Wine safari tour in the Cape
Tourvest Destination Management’s Table Mountain Wine Safari private half-day tour is a guided half-day tour where guests are allowed restricted access to a reserve in an open safari vehicle, viewing the Cape Floristic Region and valleys. They will visit a cave and travel to the historic blockhouses and have the option of a picnic lunch and wine tasting from the Durbanville Hill cellar. Key sites and attractions include views of Lion’s Head, Robben Island and the Atlantic Ocean and views of the Cape Peninsula and Twelve Apostles. Two to six guests are allowed per vehicle on this private tour and a translator is available on request, subject to availability.

Franschhoek Wine Tram full-day tour
Tourvest Destination Management’s Franschhoek Wine Tram full-day tour begins by boarding a tram in the Franschhoek Valley, visiting several wine estates on the hop-on, hop-off tour. The tour follows a series of stops on a loop around the Franschhoek Valley and offers a unique way to explore the region, the valley’s vintners and the village of Franschhoek. From two to 14 guests are allowed per transfer vehicle and the tour includes entrance fees to two wine tastings and a full-day tram ticket.

Chavonnes Battery Museum offers Cape experience
Chavonnes Battery Museum in Cape Town has introduced a new experience offering visitors a chance to learn about the history of the Cape. This is a guided tour of 17th century Cape history and goes to historic points of interest at the V&A Waterfront.
The tour is followed by a five course buffet lunch with Cape cuisine with wine, craft beer and tea.

Camp Jabulani introduces elephant experience
The Jabulani Elephant Experience affords Camp Jabulani guests the opportunity to meet and spend time with the herd. Highlights of the experience include meeting the elephants close up and hearing their stories; watching playful splashing and spraying during the midday swim; tracking the herd on foot in their own territory, and participating in field research.

Khaya Ndlovu introduces helicopter Panorama Tour
Khaya Ndlovu in the Blue Canyon Conservancy near Hoedspruit has introduced a helicopter flight over the Blyde River Canyon. The one-hour experience offers guests an opportunity to spot the wildlife in the reserve en route to the canyon.
