The Big Tree Holiday Lodge in Zwigodini Village in Limpopo’s Vhembe District, has officially been opened by the Limpopo Tourism Agency Acting CEO, Seipati Tlaka, and Chairperson, Mashilo Matsetela.
The lodge is situated close to the Big Tree, a 3000-year-old baobab that is the biggest in Africa and one of Limpopo’s key attractions.
“We believe the lodge will fill the gap that has long existed between Nwanedi Resort and Makuya Park,” said Tlaka.
“During the construction phase, the lodge generated 80 job opportunities for the local people and will employ about 21 people during the operational phase on a permanent basis,” said the Limpopo Tourism Agency.
The lodge is managed by Nndanduleni Khavhadi, and features 20 newly built chalets, a state-of-the-art kitchen and a dining facility.
“The product will contribute immensely towards the growth potential for domestic tourism in the area and the province in general, while assisting tour operators in packaging this important icon [the Big Tree],”concluded Tlaka.
